Y7 Crimebusters out and about in Onchan

Y7 geographers were using their observational and map skills to conduct surveys of evidence and crime and crime prevention methods around Onchan Village Walk this week.

The purpose of this task was to consider how social, economic and environmental factors can either encourage or deter crime, and how urban planning can influence perceptions of areas. The students will compare their data collection in Onchan during¬†future lessons with ‘designing out crime’ methods that have been used at the lower school site at Bemahague. The observation tasks encourage students to develop key skills which are necessary for future coursework and exam modules in geography.DSCN6195 DSCN6197 DSCN6209 DSCN6191
