Year 13

A2 LEVEL

The course syllabus and specification followed during Y13 is a continuation of the course code 9696 A-level International Cambridge, further information of which can be found here.
The course is assessed through two written examinations (paper 3 and paper 4) in the summer term of Year 13.
The percentage scores achieved in Year 12 will be combined with Year 13 for a final A Level grade. Retakes of Y12 units (paper 1 and paper 2) are possible if required.
You will be taught for six 50 minute lessons per week, shared between two geography teachers.

Paper 3: Advanced physical geography
1 hour 30 minute written paper in the summer of Y13
This paper offers a choice of four option topics, of which you will have studied two topics.
Coastal environments
Hazardous environments
For each of these topics you will answer one structured question (10 marks) and one essay question (20 marks)
Worth 25% of the final A level. 60 marks available.

Paper 4: Advanced human geography
1 hour 30 minute written paper in the summer of Y13
This paper offers a choice of four option topics, of which you will have studied two topics.
Production, location and change
Environmental management
For each of these topics you will answer one structured question (10 marks) and one essay question (20 marks)
Worth 25% of the final A level. 60 marks available.

 

 

The summer of Y13 doesn’t have to be the end of your geography experience! Please speak to your geography teacher or your tutor if you would like more information about studying geography at university.
